Castro is a beautiful, full-featured podcast player that makes it easy to track lots of podcasts. Here’s how it works: 1. New episodes land in your INBOX. Read their descriptions, add episodes you like to your QUEUE, and archive the rest. 2. Press play to listen to episodes from your QUEUE in order. Queued episodes are downloaded automatically. 3. Add to and re-order your QUEUE to plan your next few hours of listening at any time. Browse your ARCHIVE to review your back catalogue of subscriptions, quickly access starred shows, and see your listening history. With Castro, subscribing to a podcast doesn’t mean making a commitment to listen to every episode. You don’t have manage a huge list of subscriptions or choose a few shows and miss the rest. FEATURES - Drag and drop podcasts to triage and reorder your next few hours of listening with Castro’s unique queue. - An elegant dark mode and thoughtfully designed sleep timer offer the best in night time podcast listening. - CarPlay support makes it easy to pick up where you left off while driving. - Apple Watch app to control playback and select another episode from your queue. - Our servers find new episodes across every podcast, so your phone doesn’t have to, saving battery life and data usage. - Episode notifications include a summary of the episode to help you decide if it interests you. • Two Basic Improvements

    By me_to_be
This is my favorite podcast apps, but it's missing some pretty simple features 1. I need to be able to sort episodes from oldest to newest. Some podcasts have hundreds of episodes and I want to listen chronologically, but I have to scroll forever to find my place 2. I want to listen to episodes without having to add them to my queue. I want to listen to several episodes of one show in a row and it doesn't make sense to add them to a different place to do so
  • Has Everything I’ve been wishing Apple Podcasts Had

    By AnnieRL927
Love this app! Allows playlist creation, and makes it simple to track episodes I have already listened to, episodes I want to keep and remember, and new episodes, all in a really logical way.
  • Love it

I just loaded my first audio file from an NPR webpage using the sideloading action extension. Perfect. The queue concept in Castro is perfect. I can sort episodes of various podcasts into the order of play I want. Episodes that I don't care to hear are easily archived.
  • Vastly underrated podcast app

I have no idea why this isn’t getting the attention some of the big names in the space (like Overcast) are getting. Castro is an extremely polished player with all the features I need, an easy UI, the best way to manage your subscriptions and queue, lovely subtle animations for every interaction, and a developer who’s quick to adopt new technology shorty after it becomes available. I paid for an Overcast subscription but Castro quickly became my favorite podcast app by a mile.
  • Génial

Très convivial pour les utilisateurs!!! La meilleure application pour écouter les podcasts!!
  • Perfect, and Perfectly Simple

    By Jaie
I don’t want to fuss a lot with playlists. I just want to listen to selected episodes of selected podcasts. Castro makes it exceptionally simple to do that. Just add what you want to hear to the queue. Don’t want to listen right now? Archive it to binge-listen later. Not sure? It can stay in the inbox until you decide. The premium features are completely worth the money as well. Some days I miss having more than one queue, but I can only listen to one podcast at a time, so why do I need more than one? The queue is so easy to reorder that it’s no big deal to work with. I wish the podcast discovery part of he app were a little better, but I already subscribe to enough podcasts that I’m sure I will die before I could listen to all of them, so finding new podcasts isn’t really something I need to worry about. I’ve downloaded a lot of podcast players over the years, but Castro is the one I’ve stuck with.
  • The best I’ve tried

    By Tinferbrains
I’ve tried just about all the big contenders in the podcast apps, and this one wins by far for me. The triage is perfect. Sometimes there’s an episode or two I’m just not interested in, and I can choose to skip it entirely. The only feature I liked in overcast that isn’t here is a total amount that silence skipping saved - rather than per episode.
  • Disappointed (no stand alone watch app)

    By Schultzypoo
I love this app for so many reasons, the foremost being the great user interface that keeps all my podcasts under control. When they began offering a yearly subscription I thought they would focus on fixing the disparity in features between Castro and the competition. This hasn’t been the case. I’m very disappointed that they didn’t support Apple Watch stand alone playback. When Apple announced the APIs were available I thought for sure Castro would be on top of it. They haven’t even mentioned supporting it in their podcasts. I cancelled my subscription. I would expect a subscription based app to support the latest features of the platform. It will be hard to win me back now that I know they don’t have the same priorities as I do when it comes to features for their app.
  • Seriously great - Cast support please

    By oyster
This is a great app, made greater by the fact that they actually have found a genuinely new and novel way of managing high volume listeners. Triage is something all of us do, and Castro nails it. My only wish, and I know most folks don’t need it, is Cast support. As fan as I am of iOS, I use Google Home products in my house, and I’d love to be able to Cast audio to them using Castro. Currently, no dice. Downcast has it, as does PocketCasts. Please...I’m begging...add Cast support. Thanks!
  • Best podcasting app!

    By AFB3
This app is such an improvement over the Apple Podcast app. The differences are subtle but they have a large impact on listening. Here's one example that doesn't seem obvious. I listen to podcasts on my bike commute. On the Apple app, I'd start a stream close to the end of the podcast on my way to the basement where I stored my bike. When a new 'cast started, the Apple app would try and download it, failto get a signal, and require me to manually fix the problem before it would run the next 'cast. Castro keeps enough downloaded that I never have that problem.
