  • Beware will use cell data instead of WiFi

    This used to work fine but in the last update I noticed that my Verizon data was being burned really quickly. After a couple of weeks of troubleshooting I realized the Cloud Cam app was using cell data even when connected to the WiFi. I had to turn off cellular access to this app so it would force a WiFi connection. One star until this is resolved.
  • Does not work for live video streaming

    I have three cameras. The app stopped working for live streaming on both my phones that use it. I can view it live using fire tv, but the apps don’t work. We have iPhone X and iPhone 8. It’s been down at least 2 months now. Called customer support, reinstalled app, etc all to no avail. Recordings still work and play, but not live.

    I can no longer see any of the video feed for all my cameras. Audio is working fine and recordings come through but no live video. Works just fine via the website on a computer though which leads me to believe it’s an app issue and not my cameras or their connection

  • Doesn’t work well with iPhone XR and dual SIM

    App/device works well, but I’ve had issues since getting an iPhone with ESIM. The application won’t stream live video on cellular with both SIMs enabled, and it has been a struggle getting in contact with someone from support. It works when I disable either cellular plan in iOS, but it doesn’t work when both are enabled. I’m not having issues with any other applications, so I’m confident that it is an issue with the Cloud Cam app. I’ve tried reinstalling the app as well.

    This is an assessment after using this for a few months. It’s horrible and the velocity of release/fix is unacceptable given the bugs present in the device and this app. Update: All bugs are still active as of July 27th 2018. Update 2: On Prime Day their cloud cam system went offline for hours. Seems like this security system is highly coupled with their shopping portal resources. Utterly insane. Here’s a list of bugs that’s been around since release. Still present as of April 2018. 1. App fails miserably when switching orientation between portrait and landscape. 2. App often gets stuck in recording view and fails to exit to live view. To repro, tap on motion detection notification in landscape mode on iPad, which takes you to recording. Try exiting to live view. You can’t! 3. App doesn’t let you zoom in on recordings. 4. App randomly crops and gets stuck when trying to zoom in. 5. Recording is often heavily pixelated with 100mbps connection with no traffic. 6. Motion based recording often fails because of pixelation. 7. No Apple TV app. 8. No concept of household for home/away feature. Did they design this for single people living by themselves? 9. Home/away assumes the person/device is permanently home if your beacon device powers off while you’re home. Even worse if you uninstall the app while you’re home it will assume you’re always home with no way to fix. 10. Recording starts too late or ends too early. It misses the relevant action 90% of the time. This is a deal breaker for a security cam. 11. Start up / restart takes too long (>3minutes) if it power cycles or network temporarily drops. 12. The setting for audio (playback, and not recording) doesn’t stick. 13. No multi cam view if you have more than one camera. 14. Resolution isn’t good enough for capturing license plates. Another deal breaker for security camera. 15. Video tends to get very pixelated when motion is detected and it starts uploading. Given the fast connection, I have to assume it’s the device being overworked or Amazon servers being overloaded. I’m paying for cloud cam service. It’s 1080p when nothing is moving. It’s sub-240p when there is motion. Completely useless... 16. When the upload bandwidth is temporarily maxed the video pixelates. (Eg when running speed test) But the quality never recovers when the bandwidth returns to normal. Video remained pixelated for 30minutes after bandwidth capacity returned to normal. The test was terminated at this point. 17. This device is literally the last thing to come back online after router is taken offline for upgrade. It takes roughly 5-10minutes longer than any other device on my network. 18. New 4/30/2019 - I can’t reorder the camera in the app. This is probably one of the core functionality they should have added on day 1. @Amazon, I suggest getting higher caliber engineers if you want to gamble with monitoring and controlling entry in to peoples home. This is penny wise pound foolish on a colossal scale given the negligence/liability.
  • App is Horrible!

    Developers, please respond to our comments and be clear about what you fixed in your updates! I’m beginning to suspect that there are no real updates that address the poor functionality of this app. If we can’t see our live camera view, what’s the point? The app is an integral piece to this system. It should work, period. This is beginning to feel like a scam. Another oversized local company that has lost my trust. They are producing branded garbage and not standing behind its quality. Customer service is HORRIBLE compared to what they used to be. I bought these cams because I trusted Amazon, as a brand, to stand behind their product and service with full integrity. Not happening. We’ve spent over $400 on the cameras and pay for premium cloud service. Can’t use the app and the cameras don’t work half the time, even after troubleshooting. Disappointing.
  • Features don’t work

    The camera has a schedule option and you can have notifications on but it still notifies you even when you have the camera off. So when you’re in the house with the camera on, you get a notification every time you walk by it. It also constantly gets glitches and the camera view is upside down or it disconnects from the wifi. Guess I’ll have to work up the extra money and buy a nest camera system. Disappointed as I am a loyal amazon prime customer for 6 years now
