  • Best Meditation App I've come across

    Sam Harris' meditations are fantastic. So much better than headspace or anything else I've tried. He does a great job at presenting a different lesson each session to make it more and more clear what the goal of meditation is. As opposed to just sitting there and wondering if it's working yet.

    I’m new to the practice of meditation (about 8 months), but I’ve been using this app habitually on a daily basis and it has helped me in so many facets in my life. I work as a nurse in a stressful field, and meditation has helped me find peace and calm within. I truly believe if more people tried meditation the world would be a better place. This is one reason why I’m writing a review, which I don’t usually do for apps, because I want to bring more awareness. Thank you Sam and your team for this truly wonderful gift which has made such a positive difference. It is really hard to contextualize into words how much I love this to give it proper justice.
  • My favorite meditation app, hands down

    I had the headspace subscription the last three years and completed various packs but never developed a regular habit with it. Waking Up is really next level for me. I find it to be much more rich and interesting, and not just focusing on the breath endlessly. The techniques and guidance is provocative and insightful in Sam Harris typical style. I'm on day 38 and it's clear that it was thoroughly planned in terms of sequencing as it quickly introduces you to the diversity of techniques and then spirals upward, revisiting those techniques and guiding you to deeper and deeper insights into your mind. For me, it is that depth that separates this app from all the other meditation apps I've tried. If you just want to practice honing your ability to follow your breath, headspace, 10% happier or calm will all be just fine (I've used them all). But if you are looking something to help you go beyond simple training of the attention, and live the "examined life" this is the app for you.

    Very useful app since most Homo sapiens are walking around the planet reacting to events without giving much thought at all to why. When you consider the “why”, you realize you have options when reacting. Thank you Sam Harris. And his books are life changing also.

  • Helped me overcome my depression and anxiety

    This app has changed my life for the better in many ways. I was struggling for a very long time with severe depression, anxiety, and developed a panic disorder. It was affecting my relationships, my career. I couldn’t focus mentally in my job so my productivity was at its worse in years, and I was in pretty rough shape. I had tried everything to deal with it including medications, drugs, alcohol, overeating, then the opposite; I got sober, got into excellent physical condition, and tried several other things in between. While there were some better days here and there, overall my anxiety was actually getting worse, and I hit a new rock bottom point in my life. I had purchased the waking up course when I first found out about it because I loved the idea of mental training. Meditation was something that I had always wanted to explore, but I didn’t truly commit to using it at first. I started listening to the lessons each day because they were so insightful and they gave me hope. After I listened tot he 5th lesson on solving problems I was very inspired, and I fully committed to practicing the meditations daily. I started improving my ability to focus my in my meditations, at my job, and in my relationships. Then I got to a meditation where Sam trains you on how to focus and locate the physical affects of things like pain or anxiety, and I was able to do it. I got better and better at it. For first time in my life I felt a deep sense of inner peace, even in the midst of things that would have made me upset in the past. Now I’m much further into the course and I’ve overcome my anxiety and depression problems. I haven’t had anymore panic attack’s. I’ve been more focused at work, and I’ve been more thoughtful of other people’s emotions. This has had a dramatically positive impact on my relationship with my partner and stepdaughter. I’ve stated telling other people about the course, and my best friend just downloaded it. I highly recommend it. I’ve found that it’s important to stick with it as a daily routine. That’s when you get the most out of it.

    It's hard to overstate how important this app has been in my life since I started using it. First of all, the app is exceptionally well designed. Aside from being well laid out and aesthetically pleasing, the content of the app is fantastic. The impact of meditating for even 10 minutes each day has increased my focus, mental clarity, and emotional stability. I've recommended this app to countless people, and even bought a subscription for one of my best friends. Get it.
  • Meditation timer doesn’t function well

    2 years daily meditation experience. 15 days into this course and enjoying it so far. Only complaint is that the meditation timer does not chime to end a meditation if the screen is locked.
