  • Such a disappointment!

I was so happy to hear that they released an ATK app after discontinuing the Cook’s Illustrated app a few years ago. I used the CI app several times a week and I really missed it. While ATK is a TV show and CI is a magazine, they have the same content, it’s delivered via different media. The old CI app had all the recipes, taste tests & equipment reviews from CI & ATK and videos clips from ATK. This new ATK app may have an updated look, but that’s about all it has to offer. It is less user friendly than the old app and the navigation is not as intuitive. The CI app may have looked dated, but it had straight forward navigation and EQUIPMENT REVIEWS! It’s such a bummer to have to exit the app and log in from a browser to get to those reviews. Why create an ATK app that excludes some of the major content from ATK?

This app is just ok. Limited to what you can get to. Use the website.
  • Limited functionality

It’s nice to have access to and save so many recipes. It lacks the ability to be able to make notes on recipes. I want to be able to leave notes on recipes I’ve made—what worked, what to tweet next time. I’d also like to be able to search fo product reviews via the app.
  • Needs better search criteria

You should be able to browse by category or do an advanced search for recipes. There are no filter options.
  • Not up to ATK’s standards

This app needs some work. There needs to be a pull down or bar menu which will take you to places like “saved recipes.” The shopping list should be on this menu, not an overlay on the home page. I’m just glad it was free.
  • Basic

You can only lookup recipes. It does not provide access to show episodes. Not a very engaging app.
  • No access for web subscribers

    By sethertonb
I've had an online subscription for years and years, and it got me access to the old app. Now this app told me that my subscription isn't good enough -- I have to keep dealing with all the annoying pop-ups on the website to access content, or upgrade to a more expensive membership.
  • Great for Paid Web Users

I am an all access web member, for all the sites - America’s Test Kitchen, Cook’s Illustrated, and Cook’s Country. If you are already a member, download this app and you can easily access your favorite recipes from all 3 of their websites. Plus you can add the items you need to a shopping list. I love to cook and most of the recipes that I make on a day to day basis are here. I also have books and magazines, but it’s easier to find the recipe here than dig through 10 years of issues.
  • Deceptive name

This America’s Test Kitchen app is only for all access multi-use members. The old app worked perfectly well for members that only had an ATK membership. Maybe call it something else? Pretty much waste of space for me.
  • App doesn’t give you access to website

    By docmircat
Searching for recipes is difficult. Don’t have access to website. If you want to print, there is print option, but takes you to website, where you have to pay another $50... just buy website access and skip getting app
