  • Zinio app

Zinio is a very nice app. Lots of choices for magazines, including non-US magazines, opening ones horizons to the larger world on some topics. The app now crashes repeatedly, especially after attempting to download a foreign magazine ( British). App has become the unreliable.
  • iPad Air works

For years I have wanted to read magazines online. This app does the job. On an iPad Air, pages turns are quick enough to be similar to reading a printed copy and the resolution is high enough to not be annoying. Unlike a home computer where there is not enough resolution, this works very nicely. Thank you for making this available. I like the bookmarks. I like that the next time I open it, it keeps my place where I am reading in each magazine. Update: It works very nicely on an iPad Pro also.
  • Does not retain downloaded magazines

I have used Zinio for several years. Starting about six months ago it stopped retaining downloaded magazines. Every time I open the app previously downloaded magazines have been deleted and need to be downloaded. The net effect is that the app is only useful when you are connected to the internet. I have this issue with both my iPad Mini and iPad Pro. Zinio customer service has been very responsive but have not been able to fix the problem,
  • Not going to repurchase

I bought an older magazine from 2011 but has yet to shown up in my library. I got an email that said I have purchase it. When I looked for the mag again in the app. It shows buy and in safari it said the same thing but I was able to read without repurchase.
  • Bring back an older version of the app

Before November 2017, I would have rated this app 5 stars. However, as of November 2017, the app is very buggy. Magazines won’t stay downloaded for offline viewing. I have to check my downloads EVERY SINGLE DAY to see if they are still there. It’s annoying. If there is someway I can keep a magazine downloaded for more than 24 hours, please share your secret.

The idea of being able to keep previous issues of mags without taking up space is great. I have already subscribed to a couple of mags where I already have paper subs. Main complaint is those providers who think we would be silly enough to subscribe at the same cost as the paper sub. Does anyone actually pay $6.99 for a magazine which they can buy on the newsstand for, wait for it, $6.99? Update 2018, things move on, whilst Zinio haven’t. Still ridiculous pricing for many titles, meantime Readly offers hundreds of magazines for a modest monthly subscription. Suspect that Zinio will go the same way as Blockbuster, great idea which failed to keep up with progress. PS Zinio also do something which is very sneaky, presumably to reduce bad reviews. Click on the invitation to review, inside the app, if you click on ‘great app’, you are taken to the review page. Click on ‘needs work ‘ and you are taken to an email page..Sneaky.
  • Yup...yup.

Updated: Zinio has been my favourite for years. However, developers need to update the app to support the new iOS Devices and add the ability for automatic, simultaneous downloads.
