    I left a competing app over a year ago to join Strava, purely for the social aspect and in all regards there, it was a great move. The vast majority of my friends use Strava for their running and biking so it’s wonderful to have that added motivation. And for the most part, using Strava (as a premium subscriber) is pretty great. But the Apple Watch app continues to be plagued with issues that frustrate me to the point of considering revisiting that old service. - Constant, random notifications that there’s a new activity to upload when there *isn’t* a new activity to upload. And sometimes those notifications come at *horrid* times, like at the start of a new run. My brain panics and thinks something has gone wrong, but now, it’s just Strava telling me, for some reason, I have a new activity to upload 🙄 This isn’t so bad on an outdoor run when I’m in total control, but on an indoor treadmill run, it can be dangerously distracting. - Seemingly incorrect/impossible split times on some runs (there’s no way on a regular non-race day I run a 7:15 mile followed by a 8:10 mile— I know my body, and that’s not right) - Sometimes when tapping to finish/save a run, it somehow registers a new run to start and I never know what to do with that run. Do I just delete it? Did something from the actual run I just completed not register correctly? - Multiple “runs” registered in the Activity app. For example, when I returned this evening, there were *three* outdoor runs registered in the Activity app. All had the correct mileage & times, but only one had actual information regarding calorie burn; the other two had zero calories registered. After deleting the two seemingly incorrectly registered runs, I discovered that heart rate data in the “correct” run was missing. I’m not a developer, so I don’t fully comprehend how difficult it is to make these things work, but I know it’s hard work. Yet it’s incredibly frustrating, these many years in, to still be fighting what seem to be basic “growing pains” issues in the Watch app that should have been sorted out ages ago.

  • Fantastic until they took away dark mode

    The app is a wonderful hybrid of data collection and social media, I wish I had the option to have a dark mode though. It used to have a blacked out scheme and it was really nice. Now with all the white it’s blinding, if it had the option for dark/light mode it’d be a 5/5
  • Several years in and no Siri support

    The app works, 90% of the tone. There's a serious issue with the push notifications and alerts generally, in that in you clock through the push notification, the app opens directly to the comment or activity, but doesn't clear the notification. You've gotta navigate back out and clock on the in-app alert icon. Just a poor programming issue for an established product to have.
  • Logs double in Apple watch

    I like that it works with my Apple Watch and the activity app. BUT if I enter my previously logged runs from the Apple Watch workout app, then it adds them and sometimes twice into the activity app. Even if I delete them from the activity app it eventually shows back up therefore throwing off all of my workouts.

    This review is for the Apple Watch app, the phone app is great. I do not use the Apple Watch app because it uses the Apple Watch heart rate monitor which is not accurate. I use a Bluetooth chest strap with the phone app that works very well. I understand Strava wanting a stand-alone app, but it also needs a mode where it only serves as a user interface for the phone app. Showing activity time, speed, distance, heart rate, current segment by name, +/- personal best time. Then I would use the watch app. Please provide this feature!

    Good app for racking up miles. Here’s what I would like to see Strava: club only segments and rides. An in between level of private and public. It’d be an amazing feature for ‘training’ amongst your own squad
  • Real hard to use on watch

    The phone interface and app had been solid. However the watch is just confusing and not work well I ran 3miles loop and when pause and finished it said i have to discard it since no movement been detected I believe strava can do better than that
  • Was great, now tracking completely unreliable

    I switched to Strava years back after Nike + broke their tracking reliability with a major update. Never regretted it until the last few months. Often while running my pace / distance shows as 0. The route will have big inaccuracies. What is reported as my pace / distance - and even time - will have large discrepancies between what shows before and after I upload. I have a reasonably good idea of what pace I’m making and I know what is being logged is wrong. I’ve been through the customer support process twice, but just get the same generic advice about updates, and gps resets. I’m on the latest os and app version - after performing the resets recommended (which included a device settings reset that wiped all my stored wifi passwords) the tracking worked once, then began misbehaving again. I don’t really want to switch to another new app, but unfortunately I’m not using this app just for its great photo sharing and social features - I need working tracking! I’m running in a park in the middle of Brooklyn - if the app doesn’t work there.. Where does it work?
