  • App is broken

    Even though I have an active subscription in ITunes it fails to allow me to download an issue. Numerous other major problems keep this app in the running for worst of all time.
  • Doesn’t even render text correctly

    Look at the kerning in the screenshots, because apparently they didn’t before releasing this garbage. Edit: I’ve given them a couple of months to fix the app and it’s still trash. Unsubscribing after many years of reading The Week.

    I am subscribed for 2 years yet the digital format will not load and constantly asks if i want to subsc. Update is a nightmare
  • Update is a dud

    Now the greatest weekly content feels like a B- blog. Content is great, but the functionality and appearance stinks. How could this be put out as an update? Who thought this was an improvement?
  • Wonderful publication, terrible new app

    (Updated) I tried to put the bugs and annoyances aside but there are too many. The app is slow and bug ridden. After 4 years I have to say goodbye to one of my favorite reads. I will not even finish our my yearly subscription which is seven months left. Best of luck to the developers. As with another poster, I would like to start with The Week is a fantastic publication. And up until this new version of the app, always enjoyed the digital experience. Unfortunately, this new app is unusable. I subscribe to the print + digital version. While logged in I am unable to download any previous issue, although I’ve attempted to Restore Purchases. (I’ve been a subscriber for three years.). The font resizing does not work (as it is defaulting to the smallest font.). And any attempts to scroll through pages brings up a progress/activity wheel which lags the reading / page turning experience a number of seconds. I am using a 2nd generation 12.9” iPad Pro, so I quite confident it is not the hardware. Until these and other smaller issues are corrected, I cannot recommend this app.

    With your new app, I can no longer select words to look up on both my iPhone and iPad. Really a totally unacceptable update. Isn’t that why we like reading on electronic devices? Why would you eliminate a major feature like this? I can even select and look up in this silly little Details box I’m typing in right now. Please allow this feature again for electronic devices. Overall, I’m not sure what you think are actual enhancements in the magazine’s formatting in this app. It’s cumbersome and now my vocabulary is suffering. Please fix!
  • Can we get the old design back?

    I love this magazine. I recommend it to everyone I know. I used to love the app too. But the design changes earlier this year have really hurt usability. 1. I like that a new bookmarking feature has been introduced, but the bookmarks regularly fail to save if I lose network on the subway. 2. Opening up the app and navigating to my saved bookmark works for a second and then I get landed on the first article of that issue. 3. I prefer to keep my app in night mode. But the top bar doesn’t conform. 4. Animations around scrolling and navigating used to be much sleeker in the older version. 5. The last read article doesn’t work at all. 6. I can no longer configure old issues of the magazine to be auto-deleted when I download newer issues. 7. The restore pop up was supposed to have been fixed with the last release but still shows up every time I open the app.

    I don’t like posting negative reviews involving products I like. I love the week. I hate this version of the app. It never remembers my purchases and is so slow I don’t bother waiting for the screens to load. I am going to cancel the digital version. I think I will go back to paper.

    ...watching this app get worse. The magazine is still great, but the developers are making me turn to the paper copy first. it’s sad. How hard is it just to not make it worse?
  • Select redundant news

    I appreciate your efforts to curate the myriad of available news stories. I find that my efforts have broader results. I routinely access the LA Times, BBC, Reuters, Washington Post, Drudge, Times Picayune, Birmingam News, NPR and the Google news feed. Other media is occasionally accessed depending on the story. I expected your paid subscription to supplement and expand my efforts but found it did not and therefore cancelled my subscription. I appreciate your taking the time to address my viewpoint. Nothing new here. All the stories are readily available in other resources with more variety and objectivity.
