  • Menu crashes iPhone app EVERY time

I have been unable to access the app on my phone (after reinstalling twice). I can scroll magazine covers and flip the magazine to purchase (I already have a subscription) but whenever I press the menu icon (with the intent of signing in) the app on my iPhone 6s crashes EVERY TIME. Therefore, the app is useless to me. Previous comments are very similar. It’s too bad that a substandard, non-useful app is driving subscribers away from the magazine as a whole. For those giving up their subscriptions with time remaining, remember that the subscription website says the magazine will REFUND your remaining balance for any reason if you aren’t satisfied. Paying for an app and it not working sounds like a good reason for a refund.

Disappointed. Love the publication, but very app rarely works. Stories don’t download. Unreliable.
  • Does this app even work?

The app does not work on my iOS 12 iPhone 8+. I click on an article and wait for it to display, but nothing happens. Tried reinstall, but no change. Arrghhh. This is super annoying.
  • Awful

I cancelled. They were nice about it. So sad. Nothing new in recent issues. Now I’m on the search for a news mag that gets me and my needs. L/T digital subscriber. Won’t renew! Such a disappointment! Did you think I wouldn’t notice half the content for more money? Using larger type.....fewer articles......none of the quirky innovative stuff that really added to the style of the mag. Others are focused on the app. Not the problem unless you are distracting them from the absence of content! I was searching for a news mag when I found you....I’m searching again! So sad! BTW, the developer response is like the mag! Words with little real content! I already know you appreciate my money......you’ve disrespected my ability to recognize what you’re selling.
  • Doesn’t even render text correctly

Look at the kerning in the screenshots, because apparently they didn’t before releasing this garbage. Edit: I’ve given them a couple of months to fix the app and it’s still trash. Unsubscribing after many years of reading The Week. Double Edit: ...and now none of the magazines I paid for over the last few years of subscribing will even display. Nothing but title, contents, and a spinner. I’ve been robbed. Whoever took over The Week digital has ruined it, driven it into the ground and changed me from a loyal subscriber to a truly peeved detractor. I’d give it zero stars if I could. I wish I knew who took it over so I could make sure to avoid anything they ever touch in the future too. RIP what was the best news overview on iOS, dead to terrible software engineering and a gross contempt for its audience.
  • Save My Place!

My wife and I have both enjoyed The Week for over 10 years, and I’ve used the iOS app since it was introduced. I just noticed the “Last Read Article” Link in the menu and assume it was added in a recent update. This isn’t the best solution, but at least I could get back to where I left off. That is, IF IT WORKED. It typically takes me to the first page. Fail.
  • App overhaul is hot garbage

Everything about the big update to this app is a step backward in usability. The menus are clunky and take more taps to get to the same place. The last read article function doesn't work properly, since it thinks the last article you read is the front cover after you've opened an issue. I routinely have to sign in and "restore purchases" to access new issues, when I've done nothing on my end to sign out since the last time I opened the app. I can't even find the 10 Things You Need to Know Today section anymore, when it was a simple left swipe away in the last version. I never thought that an update to this app would leave it less usable than the original version, but it certainly did. Please do more user testing the next time you decide to completely redesign this app. It needs a lot of work!
  • App not working

The front cover downloads on my iPad, I only see the headlines for all of the pages. No response from customer support.
  • Family sharing isn’t.

Review update: Down to 2* because no real Family Sharing. Only content my spouse can access is public content. It appears the subscription to the actual issues I purchased via iTunes is considered an in-app purchase and therefore inaccessible w/o purchasing a 2nd subscription? Feel gypped, other news apps allow sharing on family/household members devices.
