  • Don't recommend

I've used several other language learning apps and this one is by far the most confusing. You can't pick your level of fluency and are therefore stuff learning what you already know. The pace is extremely slow and doesn't hold my interest. Repetitions is great but not when you are just clicking the same sentence over and over again just to move forward.

it’s a really practical app and I never get bored when I use it.
  • I might delete the app

    By mikaya_phoenix
I might delete the app because it won’t let me do more Learning in the languages and it is locked and when I try to do a new skill or learn a new word it won’t let me do it and I have to pay so I’m mad but if I try to do Korean it don’t let me do it.😢😠😠😤😤
  • I love it

    By Stmoji
This feels like duolingo’s better half due to the use of an actual human speaking it and might be better form visual learners always with a crutch to help if you don’t understand. Even though it took time to understand how it works once I figured it out I have loved it ever since I downloaded it.

    Love this app!!
  • “Free” lessons are locked

    By 👻nicole
I really love the app but cant progress to new words without hitting a pay wall that isn't there on the android version. Many other users have this same issue. Can access them on desktop version but even after they are completed, they cannot be opened on the app.

Update: Back to four stars since Memrise finally decided to listen to its users and has committed to providing a separate app (Decks) that will have community created content and provided offline access. If you want to brush up on your vocab while traveling abroad you won’t be forced to eat up expensive data. It shouldn’t take a torches and pitchforks level community uprising to get a discussion going when major changes are announced that would alter the core of the app, but here we are. So far, Memrise is a solid language learning app. I just hope it doesn’t destroy itself like so many others have. ——————————— Old Review: MY QUESTION REMAINS - Will Pro Members from Memrise be subjected to ads on Decks? It’s bad enough that Memrise is hoisting user generated content to a website and killing offline downloads for the content that subscribers have PAID for, but if they try forcing ads on us to use content we’ve already purchased, they deserve nothing but one star reviews. So, answer the question: Will Decks be truly “free” or will it be ad-supported? What happens to Pro Subscribers IF you do decide to monetize? Your users deserve a clear answer! I’m truly tempted to request a refund if these changes hit as expected and others should too. We PAID for offline access and it is being TAKEN AWAY! So disgusted with these canned responses that I don’t even want to open the app. The new Memrise app needs to be mindblowingly awesome to excuse this major change — removing content and making it unavailable offline and having no app from which to access it is not “just a minor change”. Having seen some of the bizarre ideas Memrise has had in the past (I’m looking at you weird little alien) no one should expect the changes to be good. Updates should IMPROVE apps not make them worse. 😕 ———— Older review: Will Pro Subscriptions be honored on Decks? I purchased a lifetime subscription to Memrise and use some community created courses. I do not want to pay again just because Memrise took this content and transferred it to another site (with no app available!!!). If Decks is “free”, then does my lifetime subscription remove the ads that will no doubt be present in Decks? This question needs to be answered. And if the answer is unsatisfactory, then refunds need to happen. Let your biggest supporters know what on earth is going on. 😟 This is so freaking disappointing and I won’t be recommending Memrise anymore if they do go through with this completely unwelcome move.
