The app is very useful and has a good way to make sure new words are gonna be remembered. Along that, they used real people to say the words, unlike other apps using the monotone computer voice. But what I hated is that you have to pay to continue to learn the language. I’m learning Korean because I want to do a exchange program but that already costs too much, and adding on top of that would be too stressful.

  • Good, but need to be careful of certain pronunciations.

Been using this to work on my Korean. The female voice is very clear, however the male voice is either occasionally paired with the incorrect tile, or he’s just bad at enunciation. I continually get the same tiles wrong because he doesn’t pronounce the entirety of the word. Ex an vs ang. I listen to the voice multiple times and hear no ‘g’ sound and so I choose the ‘an’ word and it’s wrong. 😑
  • Generally I Like This App, But...

For some reason I can’t continue after “Launchpad”? I’m currently trying to do Korean, and I was able to do the first module normally and now it says to continue learning I have to upgrade to Pro. I’m not trying to use the specifically Pro features, like “Difficult Words” or “Learn With Locals,” I’m just trying to learn new words. Is this a glitch, or are you guys seriously monetizing what is essentially your whole app now?

So it teaches you how to properly say it listen to it and spell it but it not like a text book just reading listening its almost like a game because when you earn little aliens by learning words 🇰🇷

  • A fun way to practice a new language but..

I really like to use this app it help practice a new language, I’m currently trying to learn Korean, and this app helps with it. But one problem I face is that I feel i can ace a Korean test in the language but not speaking it sometimes I can and will memorize one word and forget another, besides that I would recommend getting this app to practice not necessarily learn completely
  • DuoLingo is better

I’ve had Memrise for about two years now. I’ve never liked how they break down the learning. I started French in high school and went through all four years but I want to continue learning the language and Memrise doesn’t do any of the learning techniques I’m used to. Not that I expect an app to understand how I personally learn, but Memrise doesn’t teach how verbs conjugate or technicalities in grammar. For example, I just learned the phrase “are you following?” Which they teach as: “est-ce que tu suis?” The problem is, they never teach the entire verb “to follow” so I’m in the dark as to the rest of the verb. I just downloaded DuoLingo to try it, assuming I would stick to Memrise since I’ve invested two years. Already it’s much better and I’ve had it for about twenty minutes. They offer a placement test if you already have some experience with the language and they break down your learning farther than Memrise does. They have little bubbles for pronouns and animals and verbs and all kinds of things. Go with DuoLingo.
