This is an amazing app and I REALLY want to give it 5 stars. It has nice sound, great graphics, a nice layering system, and has so many different instruments to choose from! Within a week of downloading this, I already bought the entire Band pack. Unfortunately, there are some problems. While nothing is perfect, it can get a bit hard or frustrating in a few (emphasis on few) cases. 1.) Time signatures If I’m doing a song that’s anything except for 4/4 (especially 3/4 songs), it’s incredibly hard to use. While there are 1/12 and 1/24 options for notes making sure it’s still possible to write 3/4 songs, I can’t copy and paste repetitive things like bass lines and drums easily. For example, I have to put in one box “1,2,3,1” and in the next “2,3,1,2” and then “3,1,2,3”, making me have to copy and paste 3 times instead of 1 time or simply linking it. 2.) Copy and Paste This problem isn’t nearly as exhausting as the previous one, but if I want to copy a tune that extends far past 1 measure, it requires lots of trips back and forth and usually involves lots of errors. If there could be some way to copy and paste part of entire lines, that would make it so much easier to use. This could also be a more roundabout solution to problem 1. 3.) The Electric Guitars While the acoustic guitars sound fine enough, not all of the electric guitars sound enough like actual guitars, especially the electric guitar settings called “Driven” and “American”. In all honesty, they sound like keyboards- not guitar-setting keyboard, synthesized piano keyboard. I get it’s very hard to synthesize an electric guitar, but it’s sort of weird. Once again, this is a great app and I love it. Keep up the amazing work.

It's the best music maker app I have ever used. I wish I could choose the specific range of notes, though.

I’ve tried almost every single music making app on the App Store and nothing comes CLOSE to Medly. I play the piano and the violin and have experience with making music of my own, however making music that way is very time consuming and not very efficient, and not many people who want to make music can play instruments I have several friends like this, BUT with Medly, anyone can! Plus, buying all the different sound packs (like I did) is well worth the money you would spend buying them. Its simple and easy to make music with and I’ve created entire 2-4 minuet songs (that includes all the re editing and even re doing the entire song itself) in a matter of minutes. So I guess the easiest thing to say about Medly is that it’s PERFECT for any kind of person and you shouldn’t waist your time searching for a better music making app. -Tristan Garrison

This app is perfect to write simple music on, or if you want to go all out, you can do that too! I definitely recommend this app to anybody that does electronic music.

Pretty great. But are the samples in the instruments’ libraries subject to copyright? Because what if I want to use a song for something, and it has one or more, or is even entirely made up of the samples?
