Here is the deal: I searched a number that used to be mine but let it go quite a few years ago, and it came back as being mine! Ridiculous! Same thing with my wife’s old number, and then I knew how Hiya gathers records for its database: harvesting them from contacts of people’s phones who install their app and give permissions for their app to access their phone book. How my name appeared in the search result is pretty much how, I’m sure someone, has saved my name with a terrible typo - and it looked very familiar because I definitely saw it once or twice because I used to maintain contacts with lots of fellow work colleagues. 👎🏻 Hiya!

Be prepared to pay for all the services except blocking a call. You can do that on your phone without the app.
  • Effective app

I don’t know why I’m reading all the negative reviews but I’m thinking it’s either because people aren’t setting up the app correctly, they’re complaining about having to pay to see a verified Robo name, or it’s something else. I’m a former user of the AT&T version of the Hiya app that ran on the AT&T network. It recently underwent a transformation to a pay model as well; however, the free features don’t offer nearly anything close to what they do on this version. For example, the network version doesn’t allow you to entirely block all calls, to the point where they don’t ring at all. I don’t care if they’re labeled or not...i just don’t want them to ring in the first place. If I miss a few calls, I really don’t care. The caller will manage to find me eventually if it’s important enough. This model offers an appropriate trade off in fee for service paid. For those who value knowing who’s calling at the time they call, it’s available for a fee. For those who don’t care and just want robos blocked on an accurate basis, it’s still available and it’s done well.
